Our Events
While sailing is the heartbeat of the Lagos Yacht Club we also have a vibrant social calendar with most events exclusive to Members of the Club. There is rarely a week going by without some social event taking place at the Club. They range from Club occasions to private events since LYC is an attractive place to hold cocktail and dinner parties. Some of these events have over the years become hallmarks of the Lagos social calendar.
Sponsored Races
Over the years, the Club has attracted a number of major sponsors, who regularly sponsor events. Members look forward to these events from year-to-year. Current sponsors of major events at the Club include: Heineken, Nigerian Bottling Company (Coca-Cola), Total Energies, Hapag-Lloyd, C. Woermann, Medlog, and many others. Most of the sponsored races are held on a Saturday afternoon, although there are some events that include sailing on both the Saturday and the Sunday.
Club Events
Our Club waterfront is home to many unforgettable events including Sail Around the World a culinary journey including food, drinks, live music and a big party overlooking the harbour lights. Music on the Lagoon a timeless night of light classical, operatic and popular music. Lastly, don’t miss our Anniversary Dinner a night of festivity as we commemorate the Club’s rich history and achievements. Don’t forget our October 1st celebrations, Oktoberfest, Ogogoro beach parties, barbecues at Tarkwa, Santa on the Lawn, Carol Service, Christmas Eve and our famous New Year’s Eve Party.
Private and Special Events
When the Club was founded the catering was very simple: there was none! Today the Club boasts a state-of-the-art kitchen and one of the best menus in town. There is rarely a week going by without some social event taking place at the Lagos Yacht Club. These range from Club occasions to private events since the LYC is an attractive place to hold cocktails and dinner parties. The most important event in the calendar is the Annual Dinner which remains formal with ‘Red Sea rig’ for the men and evening dress for the women.
